Expansion of Corporate Investment in 2022

The results of the WIFO Investment Survey suggest a broad-based increase of investment in 2022. This investment growth is likely to be driven by companies in information and communication, transport and storage, professional, scientific and technical activities, as well as administrative and support service activities. Large companies are more likely to expand their investments than small and medium-sized companies (SMEs). Investment activity will be driven primarily by demand and technological developments. Replacement investments are the most frequently cited investment target, with capacity expansions likely to gain in importance in 2022. For Austria's economy, WIFO expects gross fixed capital formation to increase by 4.0 percent in real terms in 2022.
