Die heimische Konjunktur entwickelte sich 2020 volatil: Nach einem Einbruch im Frühjahr und einer Erholung während des Sommers sank die Wirtschaftsleistung im IV. Quartal 2020 gegenüber dem Vorquartal. Vorlaufindikatoren deuten auf eine anhaltend träge Dynamik hin: Der WIFO-Konjunkturklimaindex sank im Jänner gegenüber dem Vormonat und das Konsumentenvertrauen ist weiterhin gering.

Economic Development Remains Sluggish
The domestic economy exhibited volatile development in 2020: following a slump in spring and a recovery during the summer, economic output in the fourth quarter 2020 declined compared with the previous quarter. Leading indicators point to continued sluggish momentum: the WIFO Business Climate Index fell in January compared with the previous month and consumer confidence remains low.
