Results of the Spring 1992 Investment Survey: Manufacturing Industry Boosts Investment Cycle

Investment activity remains at a high level. The WIFO Investment Survey of spring 1992 for manufacturing, construction and public utilities shows gross investment to increase by 10.5 percent (at current prices), to a level of AS 110 billion for 1992. During the previous year investment activity had risen only by 2.1 percent. Investment in manufacturing industry expanded fastest; after a prolonged pause the electricity production sector is able to invest again. The construction sector benefits from the opening up of Eastern Europe and from a boom in revamping activities.
