Austria's Forest and Timber Industry and the EC

The forestry sector would benefit from Austria's participation in the single EC market since export restrictions for timber would fall. Besides, it would facilitate the establishment of foreign subsidiaries and hence enhance competition for domestic timber. Of crucial importance, however, would be for Austria to be given a voting right in EC decisions on standards for timber quality and air pollution.
