Economic Sentiment Improves, Supply Bottlenecks Hamper Production

Economic assessments of Austrian companies improved significantly across all sectors. Only in sectors directly or indirectly affected by COVID-19 containment measures the sentiment indicators remained gloomy. The WIFO-Konjunkturampel (economic traffic light) shows green and signals a turnaround in the economy and a beginning economic upturn. Accordingly, capacity utilisation improved significantly. In the overall economy, the most frequently cited obstacle is business activity, but in manufacturing the most important obstacle is "lack of material or capacity".
