The Cost of Work-related Injury and Disease in Austria

Decision-makers and stakeholders need reliable and comprehensive estimates of the economic consequences of work-related accidents and illnesses as basis for the development of preventive measures and policies to increase occupational safety and health. This report follows on from an approach developed by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) and identifies for Austria costs of fatal and non-fatal accidents and illnesses caused by health risks associated with the workplace. A comprehensive assessment of the work-related burden of disease includes direct, indirect and intangible cost components.
