In 2019 Once Again Declining Incomes in Agriculture. Austria's Agriculture and Forestry in 2019 in the Context of 25 Years of EU Membership

In 2019, the agricultural sector again recorded a decline in factor incomes, following increases in 2016 and 2017. The value of production in the agricultural sector increased slightly. The drop in income is due to high production costs and depreciation. Foreign trade in agricultural goods has increased again and exports have grown somewhat faster than imports. But Austria remained a net-importer of agricultural products. In the forestry sector, a larger share of felling in 2019 is again the consequence of damaging events. This has also put prices under pressure. The 25 years of EU membership have brought about major upheavals with the Common Agricultural Policy.
