The Economic Impact of Thermal Spa Tourism in Austria at District Level
Additional Study for the Alpentherme Bad Hofgastein
This study is dedicated to the economic significance of the Alpentherme Bad Hofgastein at district, provincial and federal level. According to a model estimate by WIFO, the spa business generated direct, indirect and induced value-added effects in Austria in 2019 of 33.5 million € and an employment level of around 545 full-time equivalents (self- and wage-employed). For the district of Sankt Johann im Pongau, the thermal spa business generated a total value added of 14.8 million € and 295 full-time jobs (direct, indirect and induced).
