Salzburg's Labour Market – A Structural Analysis

During the last decades major changes took place on the labour market: unemployment as well as labour market participation increased considerably, new forms of atypical employment and fragmented employment careers became a widespread phenomenon. This study investigates the structure and segmentation of the labour market in the Austrian state of Salzburg. Results show that inspite of an overall increase of employment, full-time employment stagnated, while part-time and atypical employment increased significantly in particular among women. Additionally, instable employment situations are typical for an increasing share of workers. The high share of tourism contributes to this development, too.
