Retirement Entry and Labour Market Situation by the Example of the Building and Construction Industry

The report examines the labour market opportunities of older workers by the example of the construction work. It is the update of a study prepared in the year 2004. In a first step the difference between the age distribution of the employees in the building and construction industry and the employed population is analysed. In a second step the employment development, the age distribution and the age at terminating the occupation in the building and construction industry is analysed. In a third step the focus is layed on those persons who terminate their work in the building and construction industry and retire. Based on individual data the retirement age is examined as well as the pension title and the transition period between termination of occupation and retirement entry.
