Demographic Change and Regional Productivity Growth in Austria

Population ageing is gaining significance in the economic policy debate and economic growth literature. One aspect is the effect of demographic change on productivity growth since productivity is strongly related to experience, educational attainment, health – and therefore also age. In Austria, demographic change varies considerably by region and consequently different effects can be expected on regional productivity growth and regional competitiveness.
