Slow Recovery Following Severe Recession. Forecast of the Austrian Economy until 2014

At the end of 2008 the international financial and economic crisis triggered the deepest recession since the 1930s. At an annual rate of 1.8 percent the Austrian economy will expand more slowly – by ¾ percentage points – than in the 10 years before the economic crisis of 2009. Austria's growth advantage vis-à-vis the average of the euro area is diminishing, not least because exports to Central and Eastern Europe are likely to expand less dynamically.
