The future development of EU industry in a global context

The overall objective of the study is to assess the future development of EU exports. In particular, the study aims at identifying future strengths and weaknesses in EU exports, and suggesting what remedial policy action member countries and the EU should take in respect of the latter. The future development of economic sectors is benchmarked against a hypothetical "optimal" development. We examine policy measures necessary to shift development trajectories towards an "optimal" development of EU exports. The study was commissioned in the context of the European Competitiveness Framework Contract led by WIFO and is executed by the project partners wiiw (Austria) and CEPII (France).
