Coordination requirements for economic policy in the metropolitan region of Vienna

  • Project lead:
  • Peter Mayerhofer

Cooperative approaches to economic policy in and for the metropolitan region of Vienna are currently out of all proportion to the high degree of interregional interdependence that has now been achieved in this economic area, which comprises three Länder. The task of the study is therefore to consider how approaches of cooperative economic policy can be strengthened and underpinned by concrete projects with shared benefits. Focusing on the thematic areas "Common Economic Space", "Common Labour Market" and "Common Settlement Space" our study will develop proposals on how to minimise existing barriers to cooperation and to initiate and implement joint projects in the metropolitan region in an incentive-compatible manner.
