Gender Equality Index Labour Market

The position of women and men in the world of work is influenced by a large number of indicators. In 2015, WIFO, in coordination with the Austrian Labour Market Service (AMS), has designed the "Gender Equality Index Labour Market" as a "gender barometer for the Austrian labour market". This index combines 30 indicators from four thematic fields – work, income, education and family – into one index in order to outline the labour market situation of women and men in an aggregated form. The indicators calculated for the four thematic fields capture the role of women and men on the labour market in quantitative terms, reflect their income and employment prospects, show the education and training structure for both and present the compatibility of family and career. In 2020 an update of the results published in 2015 and 2017 will be made.
