The modes of internationalisation in services and the impact on home country employment - Evidence from Austria

However, little is known about the decision of firms to serve the foreign market via alternative modes of supply and the impact of service internationalisation on home country labour market outcomes. The proposed project aims at investigating these questions in two studies. The first part addresses the market entry decision and especially the question which firm characteristics and partner country characteristics determine the mode of supply firms choose to provide services abroad. The second part of the research project highlights the home country impacts of internationalisation activities – exports versus offshoring activities – of service firms. In particular, it aims at analysing the impact of increased internationalisation on firm dynamics and worker flows between sectors and labour market states.
