The trade effects of the Austrian EU membership 25 years after the EU membership referendum

In the referendum on 12 June 1994, two thirds of the Austrian population voted for joining the EU. Austria joined the EU on 1 January 1995. One of the main arguments in favour of accession was the integration into the European single market combined with the expectation of increasing oppurtunities for the Austrian export industries. 25 years after the referendum, the trade effects and the associated GDP, employment and price effects of Austrian EU membership are empirically quantified.
