Philipp Piribauer, PhD

Philipp Piribauer has been an Economist in the Research Group "Regional Economics and Spatial Analysis" at WIFO since 2016. Prior to joining WIFO he has been a post-doc research associate at the Institute for Macroeconomics at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna). From 2012 to 2015 he has been a research assistant at the Institute for Economic Geography and GIScience at the WU Vienna. He holds a doctorate degree in Economics and Social Sciences from the WU Vienna. For his dissertation he was awarded the Stephan Koren Prize 2016 of the WU Vienna. He had guest stays at the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) and at the University of Salzburg. His main research areas comprise Bayesian econometrics, economic forecasting, regional science as well as time series econometrics. He moreover has several years of teaching experience at the WU Vienna at the Master's level. He has authored numerous publications in international peer-reviewed journals, such as Empirical Economics, Journal of Regional Science, Macroeconomic Dynamics, or Spatial Statistics.
