Equal Opportunities

The Austrian Institute of Economic Research is committed to promoting equality for all persons at WIFO, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation or physical or mental disability. This includes, for example, ensuring recruitment and development opportunities that match their qualifications, eliminating existing disadvantages and ensuring respectful treatment of each other. WIFO actively promotes gender parity at the Institute and diversity in the workforce in all respects.

Women are underrepresented at WIFO in the group of economists and in coordination and management functions. The Management Board has set itself the goal of initiating a noticeable reversal of this trend, for example through measures to attract more female applicants.

WIFO's Management Board as well as the entire staff are supported by an Equal Opportunities Team to achieve these goals. The Equal Opportunities Team is, among other things, the point of contact for all employees for questions and issues relating to the implementation of equal opportunities at WIFO. It is responsible for WIFO's annual equal opportunities report and the formulation and monitoring of proposals for measures to improve (gender) equality. In addition, regular exchanges between the staff and the Management Board on equality-relevant aspects in work organisation and research are promoted.
