Carbon farming has become a much-cited buzzword in the European and German debate. It refers to the sequestration of CO2 already emitted in agricultural soils. The EU and the German government want to promote such negative emissions in agriculture with various initiatives. What is behind this? How much can carbon farming actually contribute to climate protection and what needs to be done to reduce climate change?
