The EC Internal Market – A Challenge for the Austrian Agricultural Sector

The study analyses the present situation of Austrian agriculture and the food processing industry as well as the likely consequences of EC membership. Special emphasis is given to the issues of competitiveness, food prices, profitability and the position of domestic suppliers on all major agricultural markets. Crucial Austrian interests and strategies for the strengthening of the agricultural sector's role are discussed. The analysis largely abstracts from structural policy aspects.
