Substantial Benefits for Austria from Liberalization in the East

Repercussions for Austria from the revolution in the East have so far been by and large positive: exports to East-Central Europe have doubled within three years, and debt of the Eastern countries was reduced by AS 10 billion. However, the time lead of the EC in having settled free trade agreements may prove unfavourable for Austria.
