Building Permits for Housing Units in Austria: Forecast 2012-13 and Regional Development 2006-2011. Part No. 2

Building permits are an important indicator for the development of housing construction. In order to be able to better estimate future housing production, the number of approved new dwellings in single-family houses and in multi-family houses as well as the total housing permits are determined with forecast models. Decisive determinants are demographic development, the overall economic environment and housing policy. From 2011 (43,200 building permits) a decline in building permits is expected until 2013 (41,400 building permits). Based on the analysis of the regional development of building permits in the last five years against the background of the overall economic development and demographic trends, the prospects for regional housing production are forecast.
