Exit from the Labour Market, Retirement and Raising the Retirement Age for Women from 2024 Onwards. Potential Effects on Women, Industries and Companies

The analyses on the current retirement transition of women show large gaps between termination of employment and retirement. In the accommodation and catering sector and in other economic services, only one third of the women transfer directly from active employment to old-age pension. Two-thirds of retirements from large enterprises are direct, whereas in enterprises with less than 10 employees only one-third is direct. The companies investigated in the mobile care and nursing, retail and cleaning sectors are not prepared for the increase in the retirement age for women and have hardly taken the necessary measures, e.g., in the area of maintaining the ability to work. The unemployed women interviewed already see little chance of finding a new job or being able to work until the age of 60, mainly due to health problems and age.
