Absence from Work Report 2020. Absences Due to Sickness and Accidents in Austria

  • Thomas Leoni

This report provides an overview of the development and distribution of health-related absenteeism in Austria. In 2019, employees spent an average of 13.3 calendar days on sick leave. This figure was slightly higher than in the previous year and corresponded to a loss of annual working hours of about 3.6 percent. Respiratory diseases recorded a significant decline compared to the previous year, but this was counteracted above all by increases in mental illnesses and musculoskeletal diseases.
