Ex-ante Evaluation of the Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan for Austria 2021-2027

The reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) initiated in 2018 provides for greater leeway for the member countries in shaping its implementation. In the new implementation model, the member countries will define in what way and by what means they want to achieve the goals set by the EU. Progress is measured in regular management reviews. In Austria, the strategic plan is developed by the responsible ministry. This process is accompanied by external ex-ante evaluators. Their task is to support the strategic planning team in defining valid objectives and identifying suitable interventions. The result is a report that is submitted to the European Commission together with the strategic plan.
