Investment is Expected to Grow in the Manufacturing Sector in 2016, While Construction Firms Plan to Curb their Investments. Results of the WIFO Autumn 2015 Investment Survey

According to the results of WIFO's Autumn 2015 Investment Survey, investment in manufacturing (in current prices) will increase by 10 percent in 2016. The largest rise is expected for producers of investment goods, followed by producers of intermediate goods. However, the investment growth is solely attributable to the bracket of large firms with 250 employees or more, while the group of SMEs does not expect an increase in investment. Firms in the construction sector plan to reduce their investments by 3 percent in 2016. Here the investment plans varies markedly between the different segments of the construction industry. In structural engineering the companies plan to increase their investments by 8 percent while the firms in civil engineering budget a decrease of 16 percent.
