Unit Labour Cost Position of Austrian Manufacturing Shows Again Moderate Deterioration in 2014

The weak growth in Austria in 2014 led, in combination with a rise in labour costs, to an increase in unit labour costs for the production of goods. Relative to the weighted average of all trading partners, this was the second deterioration of Austrian unit labour costs in a row. Seen in the long term, the relative unit labour costs of Austrian manufacturing have shown relatively little variation since 2003, remaining generally constant up to 2008 and taking a slightly negative course since.
