The Austrian Risk Capital Market in a European Perspective

In Europe as in Austria, institutional investors in risk capital funds like insurance companies, banks, pension funds, etc., have turned more cautious in their investment behaviour since the onset of the financial market crisis. The overall trend in Europe shows a recovery of fund-raising indicators that is not paralleled by the Austrian risk capital market. Notably the receding banking sector has in the last years been largely replaced in its role as institutional investor by public authorities.
