Indicators of Effects of the 2007-2013 Rural Development Programme in Austria

The study analyses the effects of the programme for rural development in Austria for the period of 2007 to 2013 on the economy and environment. The investigation produced substantial quantities of data: indicators of the labour market situation in general and broken down by gender, and the agricultural accounts at the level of NUTS-3 regions. Models were used to quantify foreseeable effects through ex-ante analysis. If the programme had not been put in place, there would be up to 23,000 fewer non-farming jobs and regional output would be lower by up to € 1.4 billion. Moreover, farming would be marginalised in many regions. Detailed maps provide information on the regional impact if the programme were abolished.
