AFLA – Labour Mobility and Demand for Skilled Labour After the Opening of the Austrian Labour Market. Migration and Commuting Potentials after Expiry of the Transition Periods for the Free Movement of Workers

The study examines the extent to which workers in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary are ready to migrate or commute once the transition periods for the free movement of labour expire in May 2011. It found that some 0.4 percent of the working population of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary are ready to migrate or commute to Austria within the next two years and have already taken preparatory steps. Many intend to work only temporarily in Austria. A look at the skills structure shows that those wishing to work in Austria mostly are skilled workers or have a university-entrance level education.
