European building investment is growing at a slightly more sluggish pace than the economy as a whole. For the 2006–2008 forecast period, the industry's growth rate in the 19 Euroconstruct countries is expected to remain just below GDP growth, chiefly because of a hesitant mood for investment in new housing construction in Western Europe, whereas investment in Eastern-Central Europe is expanding at an increasingly dynamic rate.
